Racecourse Lane, Shrewsbury - closure to through traffic

We'd like to hear your views on the proposed closure to through traffic at Racecourse Lane, Shrewsbury.

Following concerns from the local community over road safety and traffic volumes along Racecourse Lane, we propose to introduce a permanent closure by placing bollards across the road to the south of Lambourn Drive. Turning facilities for vehicles are also proposed. Local ‘through traffic’ movements would then use either Gains Park Avenue, Shelton Road or the A5, which are more suitable routes for this type of traffic.

Due to the number of planned and current developments in the western area of Shrewsbury, there are concerns that unless action is taken traffic flows along Racecourse Lane will increase and this could result in the lane being less safe for all road users.
