The Shropshire Way was introduced to showcase the beautiful countryside of Shropshire, promote tourism and economic benefit and provide a really enjoyable experience for a wide range of walkers.

A major project to upgrade the original route to provide more links to market towns and more opportunities for shorter circular walks was completed a couple of years ago.

Whilst this was well received at the time, it has become evident that the web of routes that are now part of the Shropshire Way cause some confusion on the ground and mean that there is no defined route that a long distance walker could complete and say they have walked the Shropshire Way.

While existing routes will remain, we would like to know your views about a proposed ‘Shropshire Way Main Route’ and the line it should take.

Below are 4 different route proposals. Take a look at each and decide which would be your preferred route before accessing our short online questionnaire where you can let us have you comments.

  • Route 1- Figure of eight circular with spur to Whitchurch (200 miles approximately)
  • Route 2- Linear north/ south route (60 miles approximately)
  • Route 3- Shropshire Hills circular route with extension to Whitchurch (150 miles approximately)
  • Route 4: Linear route with northern and southern circulars (250 miles approximately)

Click on the "How to get involved" tab above to access the questionnaire.

Having read the information provided and viewing the proposed routes, use the green button to access a short online questionnaire around these proposals.
