Shropshire Council

Could you be ‘the face’ of Shropshire Council’s new energy partnership?

Would you or your family like to be ‘the face’ of Shropshire Council’s new partnership with energy provider SSE?

In April 2017 the two organisations launched the new Shropshire Community Energy tariff. Cheaper than SSE’s Standard tariff it’s exclusively available to Shropshire residents, Shropshire Council staff and those working for the council’s partner organisations. Every time an eligible person switches to the Shropshire tariff – or signs up to SSE’s new phone and broadband package – SSE pays a fee to Shropshire Council, and from 1 October this money will be donated to local good causes.

As the partnership benefits local people and local good causes, Shropshire Council wants to use photographs of local people in local locations on material that will be used to promote the energy tariff, and the phone and broadband offer. This includes leaflets, posters, display stands and the council website.

And it could soon be you that is featured in these photographs – and seen across county. We've attached some mock up examples of how the new promotional material may look to give you an idea.

How to apply

To apply, a photo of the person/people willing to be featured on promotional material needs to be sent to Shropshire Council, along with few words outlining why they think they should be chosen.

Applications can be emailed to communications@shropshire.gov.uk, or sent by post to Shirehall, Shrewsbury SY2 6ND.

The application needs to be made by the bill-payer and the closing date for receipt of applications is 31 October 2017.

After this date up to five applications will be chosen by a panel of representatives from Shropshire Council and SSE.

The winners will then be photographed in their home, or in front of a Shropshire landmark near to their home – and their image used to help promote the energy tariff and/or the phone and broadband package.

All applicants will be asked to carry out an energy price comparison with SSE to see if they could save money by switching to the Shropshire tariff.

See below for more detailed terms and conditions.
