Asset management

Public assets have an impact on the type and quality of services available to every community and resident in Shropshire.

Why have an asset management strategy?

The strategy sets out the principles, ethos and goals we follow in the management of our property, both land and buildings, and the outputs and outcomes required to continue to evolve our estate to ensure it remains fit for purpose. It also supports our key aims in delivering excellent front-line services.

Key principles of the strategy are as follows:

  • The five Rs - review, rationalise, release, refurbish or replace our assets
  • Commission and work in partnership to empower communities
  • Land and buildings are to promote economic growth and income generation
  • Reduce our carbon footprint

The strategy endorses the idea that property and assets are a corporate resource through an appropriate landlord model. It seeks to act as an enabler for us to embrace new ways of working through flexible and efficient use of our administration accommodation. Finally, it seeks to establish the future framework for investment, planned maintenance, estate management, revenue generation and support to commissioning and economic growth.
